item cost import

what field to you choose for importing the item Cost (base price) ?

to you have to create the supplier before importing the items cost ??


You must import it as a supplier price (for a specific supplier). We didn't have a generic cost price not connected to a supplier.
If you want more details on this please open a new thread and i will attach a sample screenshot (we ask our customers to open a separate thread for each single question so we can better explain each step)

Hi Vinny,
you can import item costs as a supplier price.

So:

1) You need to create your supplier/suppliers in CONTACTS / SUPPLIERS

2) In your import filter (menu UTIL / IMPORT-EXPORT DATA) use the field "Selected supplier : Purchase price"
Adding this field you will be asked to select a specific Supplier to thich the price will be linked

3) After the importation if everything is ok you must see the supplier with the purchase price, in the SUPPLIERS tab in the item details

4) Base prices are also visible in the "Base prices" tab in "Price lists".
As you can see since you can have multiple suppliers for each item, you can see the minimum, maximum and average purchase costs

5) And you can use one of this base prices to autocreate/autoupdate your price lists (adding a markup to each base price)

I must be missing something
created a supplier, after importing text item the the item are imported in the supplier but not price.

Hi,
could you attach the readypro2.csv file here (compact it in ZIP or RAR format before, or rename it with a .TXT extension, since our forum didn't accept csv file directly)

I think the problem could be your product descriptions contains commas, and this is not good if you use a comma as a field delimitator (could be better to use a tab separated file)

But please attach your CSV here, so i can tell you the better way to proceed

Ok, this is a TAB-delimited file, not a comma delimited file, better like this.

I haven't seen before that your price is in E column

So you have

Column A : item code
Column B : item description
Column C : nothing
Column D : nothing
Column E : Supplier price

So in the CSV file you have 3 tabs that separate description from price (instead of only one)

So you must configure your import filter indicating that the 3rd and 4th field are empty

And always use the PREVIEW button, before executing a real import, to check if your import filter is configured correctly and each field is correctly recognized
