Documents on a Dashboard

Is it possible to include read-only documents on a dashboard within the system? For example a company handbook, or a memorandum, that staff can refer to when required.

Which kind of documents? PDF, DOC, XLS, HTML ?

A simple way could be to publish the document as an HTML page on an private web server, and create a link to this web page using the internal dashboard

I was thinking along the lines of DOC files but I can certainly see the consistency in saving these documents as HTML files instead. Ok good!

For sharing DOC or XLS files the better way is to use document archiving capabilities (menu DOC) but these documents are not directly available via dashboard. But you can set access privileges to them, and link documents to items, contacts, invoices, repair sheets, ....
